The association

I have joined the Korean BCIT Students Association. This is my first social activity in Vancouver. However, KBSA doesn't launch officially yet. Major students for management is busy preparing for launching around at September. The true,that there is no Korean strudents association, made me wondering, although many Korean students are studying now in BCIT. Anyway, so I have been asked to make a small poster for the bulletin when I have wanted to help them as possible as. Last week, I made it as you can see. That notify Korean students that KBSA will be opening at this September. And, I'm planning on designing its logo and some posters for notification of a occasion.

Davie street

Let me introduce a unique place to visit in Vancouver. That is Davie street which is a neighbourhood in the West End of Vancouver. It is the home of the city's gay subculture, and, as such, is often considered a gay village or 'gaybourhood'. And, This street can symbolize Canada's multicultural diversity. As you know, Canada is a multicultural country. Many different races are living in Canada. So, I assume that Canadian can easily acknowledge some differences each other. Canadian seems to get ready to accept the unlike sexual orientation, race and ability, of course, there would be exceptional person. You can see the macho guys who are embracing and kissing each other at the many corners of Davie street, but they don't mind peoples eyes. That would be interesting experience to visit there. But, don't strangely look at them kissing themselves. You need to find naturally, because we are stranger in this street.

Google vs Microsoft

This week's my acticle is called "Google takes aim at Microsoft with new PC platform." I found it at the section of Tech on Globeandmail.com.

This article reports that Google is looking to extend its business by developing an operating system called 'Chrom OS'. Most importantly, this field of business is already occupied by Microsoft. Google declared a keen business competition against the technology giant 'MS'. First, they are trying to lure consumers who are familiar with Microsoft's Windows. So, Google is going to release free distribution of 'Chrome' to some programmers. Analysts said "It's a natural extension of Google's attempt for their fundamental purpose. And also, that will be the appropriate method to spread access the internet through a mass of different devices such as Netbooks and mobile phones. Google is now focusing on Netbooks that is small laptop computer, because Microsoft's new Vista operating system software can't set up on Netbook. Also, they are planning on launching Google's second large open-source operating system called Android that is adjusted to mobile phones. So, Google would be able to get confidence of lightweight operating system. Second, Google could contribute Google's free office applications programs something like Microsoft's Word, Excel and PowerPoint that also dominate world market. Experts anticipate that 'Chrome OS' free contribution with Google's free applications to computer manufacturers makes computer prices cheaper. And this consequence would cause increasing advertising chances to approach to many consumers. Finally privacy consultant said that many consumers who use the new operating system could expose their privacy to dangerous of fraud.

I think that this competition among the rival technology companies can be an excellent chance to buy my own Netbook, because sufficient competition can benefits good results to consumers. But, excessive competition among giant companies is be unseemly. Also, many small and medium enterprises could be affected badly such as reducing revenue, with the consequence that one country's economy would be turn down. I hope that these giant companies will be a really good model companies that can consider an ethical business for consumers and society.

Mark's Vancouver living to survive

"Let's start the struggle for existence in Vancouver." When I arrived at Vancouver Airport, I said like that. I was concerned about my future what I can't expect anything. Also, I don't have anybody to rely on when I'll face some problems. Is that perfectly nature what stranger in Vancouver feels nervous about that, even I'm adult? It is exceptionally cold this Vancouver's winter. Especially, someone who was feeling lonely got awful chilly. I hope that these tough experiences would be a great help to succeed in Vancouver. I've been accurately living for 4months in here. I've been hardly trying to get used to this circumstance. But I know that it is necessary to sacrifice my comfortable life in Korea in order to get what I really want.
